“Without progress for girls, there can be no real progress.”Phumzile Mlambo Ngcuka, executive director of UN Women.

On Wednesday 11th October 2017 the School Enterprise Challenge community is proud to be celebrating International Day of the Girl Child. In this article, women and girls from our global network of enterprising schools tell us how they have benefited from taking part in the programme.

To find out how schools around the world have been celebrating International Day of the Girl Child make sure you check out our Girl Power Facebook Album. You’ll find photos and quotes from the girls themselves explaining how they have benefited from taking part in the School Enterprise Challenge!

Want to find out more on the subject?

You can read the statement by UN Women Executive Director Phumzile Mlambo Ngcuka at last year’s Day of the Girl Child celebrations here.

And this Devex article clearly explains why female entrepreneurs are the key to global economic development.

The School Enterprise Challenge team would like to wish you all a very happy Day of the Girl Child. We strongly encourage schools taking part in the programme to ensure that girls are given equal opportunities to boys in the planning and setting up of your school business. If you have a story of how a girl at your school has benefited from taking part in the School Enterprise Challenge please share it with us by email to info@schoolenterprisechallenge.org – we’d love to hear from you!
